"You are crew members of a ship out in the middle of the sea, at least one day travel away from any land. Your ship has been on a lengthy and tedious mission, a long way from home and everyone is on edge...Another crew member approaches you and whispers: "Oi, bottom up ! Is the Captain fit for this job any longer? We are down in the doldrums for quite some time now, don´t you think? Maybe it is time we change things up a bit on this ship. Now as the Captain is asleep... on whose side are you on?". - It is mutiny time!"

The Captain Did it! is a one-page tabletop roleplaying game (or pen & paper game) where players  assume the roles of crew members on a ship caught up in a mutiny against a captain they all have complicated feelings for...

Players + Gm together create a setting outline (period/point in time and space/type of vessel) then players create crew members each with different complicated feelings towards the infamous captain.

It will probably happen that player characters will act in conflict to each other, this is intended and your group should be have common understanding and consent of handling playing situations of player character vs player character(s). There is a soft-lock with the tension track which I find thematically supportive which brings the game to a conclusion sometime. I think this can vary on the playing groups on how often they like to roll for stuff and how much they roleplay.

There a tables for setting up the adventure and complicating things, a simple resolution system and a soft time box with the tension track. No re-invention of the wheel necessary. You need this, a few six-sided dice and pencil and papers (or digital notes) to play.

As usual for one page systems, it doesn´t explain the concept of tabletop rpgs itself and is meant to be picked up and played in a one-shot session. Best played with a PbtA/FitD mindset. I tried to make it setting-agnostic, so that this could also be set in space.

It is very similar to Forged-In-The -Dark System by John Harper.

Inspirations: Powered by the Apocalypse, Forged In The Dark, Honey Heist, Fools Who Follow, Lasers & Feelings, Alien:Dark, Return of the Obra Dinn, Star Trek, Das Boot, The Space between us

This was playtested a few times, but I welcome any feedback or session reports to improve upon it (this is my first published game).

I played this two times yet and both times, the party met a gruesome fate - I loved it!

I was one of the lucky playtesters of this One-Shot, one time as a player and one time as a GM. Both times, I had tons of fun. The setting is fresh and adaptable for variety, characters are a fine balance between classical tropes and individuals. The rules work and enable a meaningful gameplay for alle parties involved. If you fancy being able to say "I'm on a boat!" during an RPG, you should get this game.
